Michael "Mike" Richard Sander

On Wednesday, August 21^st, 2019, Michael Richard Sander, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 61.

Michael was born on May 18^th, 1958 in Jasper, IN to Richard and Neoma Sander. He received his bachelor’s degree from Hanover College in 1980 in business administration and political science. On April 28^th, 1990, he married the love of his life, Rebecca Ann (Caito) Sander. They raised two children, Joseph Richard and Alyson Marie.

Mike had many hobbies, interests, and passions throughout his life including reading every book published on Theodore Roosevelt, talking politics and history, playing golf, collecting stamps, books, and golf balls, and enjoying a glass of Johnnie Walker Black. Most importantly, he was a family man who would do anything for his wife and children. They will always carry with them the lessons that he taught: work hard and be proud of it, enjoy life in the moment, and be kind to others.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Richard, and mother, Neoma. He is survived by his wife, Becky; his two children, Aly and Joe; his sisters, Jane Swartz and Susan Riggs; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2019, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive.  A memorial gathering will follow the service until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
