Michael Lee Durham

Michael L. Durham, 78, resident of Zionsville since 1968, died at St. Vincent Hospital on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023, after a brief illness.

Mr. Durham was born in Indianapolis on February 5th, 1944, to Mary and Ray Durham, the first of 5 children. He began working at A&P in the 1960s, where he spent the better part of 3 decades managing the meat department. He retired as meat department manager from Marsh grocery in 2005, where he was widely respected for his dedicated work ethic, his fun-loving sense of humor, and his kind and fair treatment of others.

Michael was known for keeping busy. He had a wide range of interests and hobbies, the greatest of which being automobiles – especially old muscle cars. He was an excellent gardener and took enormous pride in maintaining his family home in Zionsville, where he and his beloved wife of 59 years, Marcia, raised their two daughters, Jodi and Heidi.

He was survived by his widow, Marcia Durham, and their two daughters: Jodi Spicer and Heidi Cummins. Two brothers, Ron Durham and David Durham, both of Arizona, also survive him. He was a loving, protective grandfather to 5 grandchildren: Tiffany, Rachel, Caleb, Lee, and Keifer, as well as 10 great-grandchildren. Michael was preceded in death by two siblings, John Durham (1950 – 2013) and Becky Durham (1957 – 2022).

Visitation will be held from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Flanner Buchanan funeral home, 105 W Pine St, Zionsville, IN 46077. Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm.
