Michael K. Kelley, 64, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend died October 24, 2018, of liver disease.
Mike was born on October 8, 1954, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis to Eugene J. and Audrey Hughes Kelley.
He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary and Bishop Chatard High School before getting in a program at Arsenal Tech H.S. where he learned finish carpentry and how to build houses. After retiring as a maintenance technician for The Quest for Excellence Foundation, Mike continued to help friends and family as a general handyman. His motto was “I Fix Stuff”.
Mike played as hard as he worked. From bowling and co-ed softball in younger days to coaching girls softball at Broad Ripple – Haverford Little League. He was a founding member and keyboardist of “The Derelicks” with the late Tim Considine. He was an avid reader with trivia and Stephen King books as his favorites.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and A. Jerome Clapp.
Mike is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary; daughter and son-in-law, Evanne and Andrew Abel; grandchildren, Emery, Dubhlann and Buttercup Abel; sisters, Kathleen Kelley Harris and Amy Kelley; brothers, Timothy and Dennis (Timoree) Kelley; nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Flanner Buchanan- Broad Ripple will be handling cremation. A memorial service will be planned in the future. Memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s name to St. Vincent’s Hospice.
