Michael Edward Clancy

January 22, 1955 — December 11, 2020

Cumberland, IN

Michael Edward Clancy, 65, of Cumberland, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2020.

He was born on January 22, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio to William (Bill) and Sue (McKeehan) Clancy and spent most of his childhood in Indianapolis where he played both high school baseball and football at Warren Central High school. He went to the University of Texas for a short time to play college baseball and then transferred to, and received his degree from, Southwest Texas State University in 1977. After spending the first half of his career in sales, he transitioned to healthcare, first as a nursing home administrator and, most recently, as the Post-Acute Continuing Care Network Manager for St. Franciscan Health.

Michael was a light. He was infectious. He was selfless and always put others before his own needs.  He was an amazing husband, father, Poppi and friend. He was larger than life and if you knew him, you were a better person for it.

Michael married his high school sweetheart, Janet (Sloo) Clancy on January 1, 1997, and together they enjoyed traveling and hosting family gatherings. He enjoyed watching all sports, manning the grill, spending time with his family and playing with his dog, Jake. He had a knack for noticing things that others might not see and then blessing people in ways that others might not notice. His small, thoughtful acts of kindness will be forever remembered.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, William, and his faithful lab, Lucas. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Janet, his daughter Misti (Randy) Harper, and his four grandsons Aaron, Pierce, Preston, and Paxton. He is also survived by his mother Sue, brothers Tim (Lora) and Bill (Melissa), and sisters Karen and Kim as well as several nieces and nephews and beloved in-laws.

A private family service will be held on December 18, 2020 at 3:00PM.
