Mike Crawley, a long-time radiological technician at Indiana University Health, passed away on Friday, April 15th, 2022. He cared deeply for those patients he met and helped throughout his lengthy career at IU Health.
Mike is survived by his parents Claudia and Danny Crawley and Jerry and Mabel Kekar; his siblings, Sherry Gilson, Vicki Bennett (Mark), and Jason Crawley; his eight nieces/nephews; and five great nieces/nephews.
Mike is preceded in death by his Grandma Dot, of whom he called his “best friend” and who instilled his love of sports from a youthful age.
Mike graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1986 and his favorite 80’s tunes were the likes of ACDC, Motley Crue, and the Beastie Boys to name a few. Mike was a first-generation college student and went on to receive his Associates Degree in radiology from Indiana University. Mike was dedicated to helping and serving others throughout his career at IU.
Mike was an avid sports fan and his favorite teams included IU, Notre Dame, Chicago Blackhawks, Indianapolis Colts, and the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. If he wasn’t watching sports, he was playing sports such as hockey, basketball, and golf. His all-time favorite sport was playing goalie for his travel hockey team. His favorite sporting events to attend were Notre Dame home football games and the Indy 500. If he wasn’t on a sports field or at a sporting event, he was hunting for his next deer, or beating someone at euchre.
Mike was described by many and will always be remembered as a jolly old soul.
Mike’s celebration of life will be held with family, but feel free to light a candle or add a memory to the timeline. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana University Foundation by clicking HERE
