Yvonne Koertge passed away December 11, 2022, in Greenfield, IN. Yvonne was born April 21, 1929, in Lubbock, Texas, to the late Joseph Terrell Williamson, Sr. and Willie Mae (Evans) Williamson. In 1946, she graduated from Temple High School, Temple, Texas.
Yvonne married Paul Koertge on September 19, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana. They were beautifully married for sixty-two years. Paul passed away on January 6, 2011.
In Indianapolis, Yvonne worked in the offices of the Texas Company (TEXACO), Foster Engineering Company (EFCO), Warren Central High School, and Faith EUB Church, now Faith United Methodist Church.
Paul and Yvonne were partners in the Showboat/Riviera motel and resort apartments, adjacent to Indiana Beach, Monticello, Indiana. They were owner/managers for fifty years; incorporated in 1965 – sold in 2016. Many lifetime friends were made through this business. Winters were spent in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida.
Through the years, Yvonne was active in church, school, homemakers, business, masonic, and community organizations.
She loves her church activities at Monticello United Methodist Church, and more recently, Mt. Comfort Church, Greenfield, Indiana. She and Paul liked to travel and saw most of the USA, plus Canada, Mexico, France, England, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. For recreation Yvonne liked to water ski, write poetry, oil paint, pencil, garden, and watch classical movies.
Yvonne loved her family, her husband Paul, her siblings, Joseph Terrell (Joyce) Williamson, Jr., Snyder, Texas; Madelynne Joyce (Merritt) Jones, Monticello, Indiana; son-in-law, James Edward Winter, Sr., New Palestine, Indiana. All preceded her in death.
Paul and Yvonne had two children, who survive: Sandra Lynne (Koertge) Winter, Cumberland, Indiana, and Stephen Paul (Cathy) Koertge, Delray Beach, Florida; three grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren who call her “G. G. Ma”.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 11am to 1pm at Mt. Comfort 3179 N 600 W, Greenfield, IN 46140. Funeral Service will follow beginning at 1pm. Memorial Contributions can be made in Yvonne’s honor to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana.
