Melvin Leon Baker

Melvin Leon Baker, 69 of Indianapolis, IN passed away on December 17, 2022. He was born on June 26, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late David and Emma Jo (Heber) Baker. Melvin was a Diesel Mechanic and owned several rental properties. He was described as someone with strong convictions and was always willing to debate you on most anything. He was very generous, almost to a fault, outspoken, if he was needed, he was always there for you, and he was a good family man, good husband, good brother, and a good friend. Melvin was a longtime, loyal, member of the Teamster’s Local #135. He was loved by many and will be missed. Melvin was survived by his loving wife, Jenny (Thompson) Baker, his sons, Jeromy Baker, Jason, Baker, Joshua Baker, his grandchildren, Jessica, Morgan, Blake, his great grandchildren, Mason, Brantley, his sisters, Donna, Becky, Penny, his brothers, John Baker, Jeff Baker, and his 27 nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022, 11:00 am at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with visitation there from 9:00am until the service at 11:00am. Burial will take place on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, 1:00pm at Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana. The family suggests that memorial gifts be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
