Melvin Barger
75, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 12, 2017. Melvin was born on August 25, 1941 in Indianapolis, IN to the late David and Eloise (Haggard) Barger. Melvin proudly served his country in the United States Army. After service, Melvin worked as a heavy machine mechanic for Rudd Equipment for many years, before retiring in 2004. He was member of the American Legion Post #64, The Conservation Club and enjoyed woodworking, riding motorcycles and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon (Jones) Barger, children Steven (Maxine) Barger, Teresa (David) Archer, Vivian (Carl Thomas) Barger, David Barger, Dawn (Robert) Johnson, Tonya (Jerry) Johnson, siblings Robert Barger, Judy Qualls, Diana Ratliff, Mike Barger, John Barger, 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday from 4-8pm at Flanner and Buchanan- Floral Park, with services Tuesday at 10:00am in the funeral center. Burial will follow the services in Floral Park Cemetery.
