Melba Imogene Crain passed away June 27, 2018 at the age of 93.
She was born November 30, 1924 in Somerset, Kentucky to Lloyd and Amy Young. She left Kentucky for Indianapolis as a young lady and met the love of her life Harold Eugene Crain who became her husband. She worked in Production for General Motors for over 30 years. She was very active in her church throughout the years. Her interests included going to the movies, museums, live musicals, the zoo, and long car trips to destinations like Brown County and family reunions in Kentucky. She was very involved in the activities at the Worthington Place and loved visiting with her friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her sons who are both retired military officers Lloyd Gene Crain and Harold Lee Crain (Jeannie); 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; siblings Glenna Carter, George Young, Ray Young, and Rose Hall; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Melba was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harold Eugene Crain, daughter Lydia Ann Crain; daughter-in-law Sharon Crain; siblings Joe Young, Herstel Young, Esten Young, Starlin Young, Vernon Young, Cecil Young, Velma Chastain, and Theo Young, as well as her parents.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM Tuesday, July 3 with a Funeral Service beginning at 12 PM in Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
