Maxine Cousert

Maxine (McKinney) Cousert, 89, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Prairie Lakes Health Campus Rehab in Noblesville, IN. Our generous, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt will be forever loved and missed. Maxine was born on December 18, 1928 in Farmers, KY to Cleates and Cannie (Jones) McKinney. She graduated from Business College after completing high school. After college she took a bus to Indianapolis to look for a job. Maxine landed a job as secretary for many years at Ft. Harrison Finance Center. While working at the Finance Center she took dancing lessons at Fred Astaire Dance Studio where she meet her husband, Paul. Maxine and Paul were married on October 3, 1953 in Morehead, KY. She changed her job to homemaker to raise her three children. Maxine enjoyed flowers and gardening and looked forward to her beautiful flower baskets that adorned the front of her house each summer. She was known as an excellent pie maker and was always asked to bake her famous butterscotch, chocolate and pecan pies at family events. Maxine and her entire family spent many years going up to Tippecanoe lake on the weekends and vacations to boat and enjoy the water and relaxation with family. She enjoyed her family very much and will be greatly missed.

Maxine is survived by her three children; Kevin (Ann) Cousert, Kimberly (Cousert) Noland (husband-Terry), Kyle (Pam) Cousert; two grandchildren; Angela (Noland) Myers (husband-Gavin), Chris Cousert.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Paul; as well as seven brothers; Ralph, Russell, Ray, Robert, Lester, Luster and Malcolm.

Visitation for Maxine will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2018, from 12:00 – 2:00 pm at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm following visitation. Memorial contributions may be made in Maxine’s memory the American Heart Association.
