Maurice Cicero Bratcher, 91, of Avon, Indiana passed away February 21, 2018. He was born September 6, 1926 to Lovid and Helen Bratcher in Hartford, Kentucky.
A Marshall high school graduate, he was dutifully employed with Allison Gas Turbine until his retirement in 1987. Maurice also followed his love for Christ, becoming a reverend in 1960. He pastored churches in Cloverdale, Gosport, Fountain Square/Shelby Street, Osgood, Madison, Clayton, Acton, Carthage, Frankfort and was an associate reverend with Central and Speedway until his retirement in 1988. He was married to the late Lillie Rose, she passed away in 1999 after 54 years of marriage. He was lucky enough to find love again, marrying Alma in 2000. They spent 12 loving years together until her passing in 2013.
Family remembers Maurice as an active man who enjoyed fishing and gardening. He had a profound sense of humor and loved playing checkers and Uno with his grandchildren. He was a one of a kind man who will be truly missed by all who had the honor of meeting him.
He is predeceased by his parents, Lovid and Helen; wives, Lillie Rose and Alma; daughter, Rosemary Fletcher; siblings, Georgie Hobson, Viola Strain, Dewey Bratcher, Eugene Bratcher, Sherman Bratcher and daughter-in-law, Connie. Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Maurice Jerald (Trudy) Bratcher, Daryl (Nancy) Bratcher, Marsha Lynn (Daniel) Johnston, Lora Lisa (Brad) Willkie, and David Lee (Rachelle) Bratcher; siblings, James (Barbara) Bratcher and Lula (Dennis) Wisdom; 16 grandchildren and many loving great-grandchildren.
Friends and family may visit Friday, February 23 from 6-8 PM and Saturday, February 24 from 10-11 AM at Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park. Services will be held, Saturday, February 24 at 11 AM with entombment immediately following at Floral Park Cemetery.
