Mary Virginia Hutson Zeigler
86, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 21, 2018. She was born in Hinsdale, Illinois to John and Gladys Hutson, the fourth of five daughters. Mary graduated from Hinsdale High School and Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri. She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Robert H.; three older sisters, Jean (George) Butts, Phyllis (Wallace) Vogler, Carol (Malcolm) Moore; and three Ziggys (dogs). While working in Chicago for Westinghouse, she met and married Robert Harry Zeigler, and they had 39 very happy years together. They raised two children, Robert Hutson, and Anna (Kenneth) Lee Smith. While in Hinsdale, Mary was on the board of Cook County School of Nursing (social) and Margaret Etter Cresch. They moved from Hinsdale to Indianapolis in 1966. Mary was a 50 year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and more than a 50 year member of Second Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis. She was a member of Stansfield Circle and on the Board of the Home for Friendless Animals. With her husband, Bob, she was a long time member of Hinsdale Golf Club, Meridian Hills Country Club, The Skyline Club, Lambs Club, and several others. She is survived by her beloved children; Robb and Annalee (Ken) Smith; three grandchildren, Hannah, Christopher, and Sophie Smith, and two great grandchildren, Rosaline and Marina; and sister, Hannah (Del) Reinmuth. Mary liked to garden, read, play bridge and won many awards for her needlework. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Second Presbyterian Church. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple.
