Mary L. Shake

Mary L. Shake, 91, left this world on December 31, 2023, in Indianapolis, Indiana after a brief illness.  She was born on June 9, 1932, in Marshall, IL to William Gilbert and Dorothy (Clouse) Gilbert. Mary was married to Clyde Shake on November 23, 1951. She is survived by sons Randy Shake and Kevin Shake and 7 grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her loving husband; a son Keith, both parents; brother William Richard; and sisters Melva, Marge, Kate, Phyllis, Virginia and Ann.  A graveside service will take place Wednesday January 10, 2024, at the Canaveral National Cemetery at 2:30pm.

Mary worked as a bookkeeper and other jobs before becoming a fulltime homemaker.  They lived in Terre Haute Indiana for many years before transferring to a small community near Clayton Indiana where they lived for 23 years.  One of their proud achievements was being president and secretary of the National Railroaders Camping Association and planning many RV trips in their motorhome.

Mary and Clyde retired in 1992 and moved to Merritt Island Florida into a wonderful waterfront retirement home.  They enjoyed a great many retirement years by traveling, taking numerous cruises, and being active in the Merritt Island Elks and Moose Lodge.
