Mary Louden, 96, of Indianapolis, passed away March 14th, 2025. She was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, March 30th, 1928, to parents Clarence and Cynthia (Medley) Graves.
Mary moved to Indianapolis as a young girl and attended Broad Ripple High School.
A very diligent worker, Mary worked as a switchboard operator for Indiana Bell (now AT&T) and retired after 30 years. She later worked at the Indianapolis Star part time as their switchboard operator and enjoyed being part of their team for another 10 years.
Mary married Robert Louden in 1970 whom she always referred to as the love of her life. They eventually sold their home in Indianapolis to buy a home in Greenfield and shared many wonderful years together; before his unfortunate death in 2011. At that time, she was fortunate to have found a friend group of women in Greenfield that she cherished. She and her friends met at least once a month ever after and they continued to include her as long was she was able.
Mary was a vivacious, vibrant, and loving woman. “All of 4’9”, and dressed to the nines”, Mary took pride in her appearance and loved to look her best. She enjoyed being social and continued to go out with her friends well into her nineties. Many of her close friends called her mom. She was also well known to her friends at the local Walmart store who were always so gracious in assisting her.
Mary is survived by her daughter Linda Morrison and her granddaughter Jeanine “Nina” Morrison, who wish to extend their gratitude to all her Greenfield friends who were so kind and always so caring and helpful.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Robert Louden, her mother Cynthia Wilbur, stepfather Henry Wilbur, brothers Junior Graves, Robert Graves, Howard Graves and stepbrother Bill Wilbur.
