Mary Lou Donlan (Heck), 89, of Fishers, IN passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2020 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Indianapolis, IN on November 6th, 1930 to Raymond August Heck and Louise Meyer. Mary Lou had five brothers whom she loved dearly: Donald, James, Paul, Leo, and Dick. She graduated from Saint Mary’s Academy in Indianapolis and shortly thereafter married her husband of 50+ years, John Thomas (Tom) Donlan. Mary Lou is survived by her children Carol Hill (Stephen), Jim Donlan (Jeanie), Kathy Means (John), TC Donlan, and John Donlan (Mary). She is preceded in death by her husband John Thomas Donlan, her son Tim Donlan (Evelyn), Grandchildren William (Billy) Hill, and Raymond Waggoner.
Mary Lou was a remarkably accomplished woman. In her early years, she spent time as a seamstress, hairdresser, and taught dance lessons for nearly 20 years; all while raising and caring for her six children. One of her very first true loves was music. Mary Lou could play the piano by ear and enjoyed performing for the parties she would frequently have with family and friends. Later on, Mary Lou owned and operated her own jewelry/fashion boutique “Mary Lou’s Fine Jewelry” in Indianapolis, IN for nearly 30 years. She was a very devout Catholic. Mary Lou often prayed the rosary for whom she referred to as her miracles: her 18 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included gardening, traveling, decorating and cleaning – she took great pride in keeping an immaculate home, browsing the local Goodwill, garage sales, playing the piano, and spending time with her friends and family.
