Loving wife and mother, Angela, was a woman with immense faith who devoted her life to raising nine children and being a friend to anyone with whom she connected. Angela passed peacefully on Sunday surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Born in Indianapolis, IN, to Herman and Edrie Koers, Angela attended Marion College in Indianapolis, where she met Arthur “Art” Lapadat at a school dance. The couple married on August 1, 1959, spent a brief time in Kansas, and then settled in Hammond, IN, to begin a family and Art’s teaching career. The family moved to Indianapolis in 1969 to be closer to Angela’s family, and Angela was blessed to live the past 56 years in the same home close to all the people she held most dear in life.
Angela was preceded in death by her husband, Art, her beloved daughter Julianna Grace, her parents, Herman and Edrie Koers, and three siblings (Herman Koers Jr., Vincent Koers, and Suzanna Heidloff), with whom she has been reunited. Angela is survived by eight of her children, David, Mary (Tapolsky), Michael, Nicholas, Andrew, Stephen, Elizabeth (Rinehart), and Sarah, 21 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
