Mary Louise Lucas, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away October 5th, 2021. She was born November 7th, 1933, in Indianapolis to parents Werner and Elsie (Croucher) Susemichel.
Mary was a 1951 graduate from Manual High School.
On February 8th, 1953, she married the love of her life Leroy Lucas. They shared over 63 wonderful years together.
Mary was an independent, strong-willed lady. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and spending time with her husband. She had a lovely yard and took pride in her gardening. Mary enjoyed going to Bingo and winning money from scratch offs. In her down time, Mary liked puzzles and watching “The Young and the Restless”. No day was complete without her nightly ritual of vanilla cookies and milk.
Mary was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children Cathy Featherston (Andy), Theresa Charters (Marty), and Linda Ginn (Kevin); grandchildren Stacy, Joe, Angie, Jessica, Justin, and Andrea; great-grandchildren Kya, Jack, Evelyn, Lydia, Felix,Sophia, and JT.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Leroy; her son Jeff Lucas (Steph, surviving); granddaughter Heather; sister Jean Blankenship; and half brother Tim Susemichel.
Visitation for Mary will be Tuesday, October 12th, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East from 4pm-8pm. Additional visitation will be Wednesday, October 13th from 10-11am. Her funeral service will begin at 11am. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made out to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the American Lung Association.
