Mary L. Boner

Mary Lou (Meeks) Boner went home to be with her Lord on October 5, 2020 at the age of 82. Mary was born in Mound Bayou, Mississippi on August 27, 1938 to parents, Eddie Hilliard Meeks, Sr. and Manie (Grimmett) Meeks. She grew up in Gary, IN graduating from Roosevelt High School. Mary attended Van Buren Missionary Baptist Church in Gary, IN. In her health, Mary was very creative. She enjoyed gardening, creating artificial floral arrangements, pottery and ceramics. Her greatest love, however, was spending time with her beloved grandkids.

Mary was a social butterfly and her infectious spirit will be lovingly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Manie; her step-mother, Frances Meeks; her husband, Samuel Boner; her step-children: Tracey Mayo and Terry Boner, and her brothers: Willy James Meeks, Moses Lynwood Meeks, Arthur Meeks, Gartha Meeks, and Eddie Hilliard Meeks, Jr. She is survived by her children: Wilma Jean “Toni” Mitchell and Trevor G. Meeks (Martita); step-children: LaDaryenne Smith (Blair) and Connie Simpson (Earl); sisters, Vivian Ewing and Mamie Meeks; Step-Sister: Flora Meeks, grandchildren: Trevor G. Meeks, Jr, Tristyn Meeks, Shavonne Mukes, Tesha Adams (Cornelius), Chelsea Mayo, Tiffany Smith, Blair Smith, Christopher Smith, Veronica Simpson and Thomas Simpson; along with several beloved great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, where visitation will be held from 9am until the service time. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
