Mary Juanita Akers was born in Indianapolis, IN to Mosella Williams and Robert Brady. She attended Crispus Attucks High School. Mary was a hard worker and consistently provided for her children. After many years of labour, she retired as a Machine Press Operator from the Diamond Chain Company where she also served a term as Union President, which she enjoyed.
Mary enjoyed being with her family, especially during holidays and family beach vacations, as well as spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always with her children on the weekends hanging out, taking trips to Chicago, shopping or enjoying a good meal. Mary spent a lot of time talking with her children and her brothers and sisters; she loved family. Mary was an excellent bowler and part of a bowling league for many years. She was full of life, love and wisdom. She never met a stranger. Your friend was her friend, and she did not mind imparting and sharing wisdom with anyone who needed it; Mary told it like it “TI” is!
For many years Mary sang in the church choir at Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church. In 2005, she was born again at Agape Apostolic Faith Assembly where she served as an Usher and was loved by many. When her son was called to pastor, she moved her membership and served at The Unveiled Church of Jesus Christ as the Praise Team Director and Usher for the remainder of her days in this life.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Mosella Williams and Robert Brady, siblings, Cindy Bumphus, Tallie Cook and Karen Moore.
Mary is survived by her children Elizabeth Daniels, Anitra (Milo) Green, Franklin (Shalia) Akers; brothers and sisters, William (Juanita) Bumphus, Herman Brady, Theodore Bumphus, Darlene Mosley, Shelly (Darrell) Franklin, Phyllis (Bryant) Hardiman; grandchildren, Anthony “Teddy” Sawyer, Rashaad Johnson, Franklin Akers III, Lauren Akers, Aaron Akers, Maigan Green, Madison Green and 5 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
She was loved by many and will be missed by all….
