Mary Jo Steinhauer, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away on August 18, 2019. She was born on June 14, 1936 in Indianapolis to the late Joseph Edward and Ella (Percell) Moorman. Mary Jo attended Holy Cross Elementary School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Indianapolis. She was a devoted caretaker to numerous children during her 40 year career in childcare; working for several years with TLC in Indianapolis.
Mary Jo enjoyed supporting the local teams, cheering on the Indianapolis Colts and the Cincinnati Reds; attending games when her health allowed. She also had a love for card games and played them with groups of friends for years. Mary Jo was a 9 year member of Our Lady of Greenwood; but worshiped in many churches across the area over her lifetime.
She is survived by her children, William (Kathy) Steinhauer, Paul Steinhauer, Kathleen (Brad) Tuttle, Larry (Janie) Steinhauer, Michael (Brenda) Steinhauer; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. Mary Jo is also survived by a brother, Tom Moorman; and sister, Roseann Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Helen Wenning, Joe Moorman, Dave Moorman, John Moorman.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 10am-12pm at Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass immediately following.
