Mary Lue Gurley, age 85, passed away serenely in the early hours of January 7, 2025. Her battle with Alzheimer’s was at an end. She was born in Shelbyville, Indiana on July 27, 1939, to the late Mary Etta Kiser and the late Lee Evans.
Mary Lue enjoyed gardening, crafts, and painting. After her marriage to David Gurley, she lived on the westside of Indianapolis. She was an employee of Chapelwood Elementary School as a cook and later at the Maywood Plant of General Motors. Over the years she was a member of Fairfax Christian Church, Living Water Ministry, and The Blended Church. She loved nothing more than to be with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Gurley; her stepson, Steven Gurley; her brother, James Evans; and her sister, Donna Faupel. She leaves behind her brothers, Mike and K.C. Evans; her daughter, Diana Jill Puckett; as well as 2 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was loved beyond measure and will be missed.
Visitation will be Friday, January 17, 2025, from 11 am to 1 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park. Funeral service will be Friday, January 17, 2025, at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery.
