Mary Frances Taylor Scowden

Mary Frances Taylor Scowden, 92, of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on July 22, 2023. Fran was born on October 29, 1930, in Glasgow, KY to the late John Roscoe Taylor and Neva (Glass) Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul Dean Scowden; siblings, Alline Piercy, Eldon and Elmus Taylor, and Jean Ellis.

Fran worked for Allison’s (Plant 5) as a secretary for 30 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and Carmel American Legion Post #155. Fran was an avid Euchre Player but found her love playing golf. She played on 142 different golf courses during her lifetime and has won six first place championship trophies and six second place trophies and two hole in one’s, which was at Riverside Golf course and the other at Brownsburg Golf Course.

Fran is survived by her sister, Shirley Joan DeVasher; brother-in-law, Rondal Ellis; niece, Brenda Merritt; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

A cryptside service will be held on Friday, August 4th at 12pm at Washington Park North Cemetery. A sharing of memories of Fran and luncheon will follow at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park North Funeral Center 2706 Kessler Blvd West Drive Indianapolis.
