Mary Frances Smith

Mary Frances Smith, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018.

She was born on June 17, 1927 in Whitestown, IN to the late Hallie and Elizabeth (McMannas) Scott.  Mary was a 1945 graduate of Whitestown High School and married Bill F. Smith on June 30, 1946; he preceded her in death in 2002.  Mary retired from Osco Drug after 37 years.  She was an avid sports fan and former Indianapolis Colts season ticket holder.  Mary loved to watch Indiana University Hoosiers men’s basketball team and the Indiana Pacers.  She was a longtime member of the Franklin Road Baptist Church; Mary had a very strong faith and loved to read the bible.

She is survived by her children, Judith Smith Abbett (Jon), James D. Smith (Janice), Stephen S. Smith (Lauren); grandchildren, Scott Abbett, Elizabeth Abbett, Dr. Morgan Smith, Stephanie Smith; great-grandson, Dean; sister, Jo Ann Bennington.

Visitation for Mary will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 5 – 8pm at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St. Indianapolis.  Funeral services will take place in Franklin Road Baptist Church, 51 N. Franklin Rd. Indianapolis, on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 10:30am.  A graveside service will be held later that afternoon at 2pm in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon.  Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
