Mary Ellen Coffey, 79 of New Palestine, passed away on Saturday October 16, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born on February 5, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Fred J. and Mary J. Vaught.
Mary worked for RCA Records, on the press line, for several years. She also had a vast collection of her own records. Though she would often be found drinking iced tea on the porch, she enjoyed going out to eat and shopping. She loved spending time with her family; especially baking, watching movies, and doing crafts with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary will always be remembered for her generosity and treated everyone’s child as her own. She would always have a meal cooking for you as soon as you walked in her door and would send you home with all the leftovers. She leaves behind many happy memories and will be greatly missed.
Mary is survived by her children, Melissa K. Linville, and Mark (Fred Ingle) Silkwood; grandchildren, Ashley (Matt) Nuckols, Curtis (Khaliah) Linville, Lacey Linville, and Joseph Michael Silkwood II; seven great grandchildren; brother, Freddie Vaught; and sister, Beverly Weakley. She is preceded in passing by her husband, David Lee Coffey; son, Joseph Michael Silkwood; and brothers, Ronald Vaught, and Paul Vaught.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday October 22, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park (9350 E.
