Mary E. Horner of Indianapolis passed away January 3, 2021 at the age of 98 after a short illness. Mary was born March 27, 1922 in Mitchell, Indiana and was the oldest and last surviving child of four (Mary, James, Wilma and Dean) born to Arvil and Opal McIntyre.
She married George Horner upon his return from service in WWII on August 12, 1945 and they remained happily married until George passed away in August 2003.
Mary and George founded Horner Electric, Inc. in 1949 and the operations continue to grow and thrive more than 70 years later. Mary continued to go in to work every day until shortly before her death.
She is survived by her sons Philip (Maria) Horner and Alan (Linda) Horner; grandchildren Jason (Kelli) Horner, Natalie (David) Shelton, Lindsay (Bobby) Mendoza, Justin (Kylie) Miller and Jason Miller; and great grandchildren Hailey, Lilly, Hayden, Hanna, Harrison, Madison, Lucas and Emerson. Mary was preceded by her grandson Oliver Da Costa.
There will be a graveside service for immediate family only on January 16, 2020. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date this year. Contributions may be made to Roberts Park United Methodist Endowment Fund. Mary’s Love, Caring Heart and Dedication to her family and her business will be dearly missed by the Family and many others who had the good fortune to have known her.
