Mary E. Gee

Her Life and Legacy

Mrs. Mary Ethel Wright-Gee was born on May 2, 1927, the daughter of Joe Felix and Dora Lee Wright. Mary received her education in the Indianapolis Public School System.

Mary was united in Holy Matrimony on My 9, 1953 to Arthur E. Gee Sr., where they shared over 55 wonderful years and was blessed with six children. Mary was employed and retired from IUPUI Bookstore. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Arthur E. Gee Sr.; two brothers Joe and Robert Wright; two sisters Marie Wright, JoAnn Montgomery.

Mary was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church for over 63 years, where she served on the Usher Board. Mary enjoyed crossword puzzle, planting flowers and cooking and feeding her family and friends.

On February 13, 2017, the gentle soul of Mary Ethel went home to be with the Lord. She cherish her memories to her children; Phyllis Floyd-Benson, Sharon Gee, Arthur Gee Jr. (Geraldine) of Antioch, California, Trijenia (Jesse) Pittman of Austin, Texas, Sherman (Carren) Gee, Tawonia (Tony) Taylor; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Stella M. Moore, Betty Bellamy; brothers Toby Wright, Curtis Wright (Detroit, Michigan); special cousin Harold, Alex and Patsy Sims of Hopkinsville Kentucky; and a host of other relatives and friends and the Mt. Olive family
