Mary Louise Dreyer Burkhart 86,beloved wife of William F. Burkhart, passed away peacefully February 14, 2016after battling Alzheimer’s Dementia for several years. Mary Lou was born May22, 1929 in St Louis, MO the youngest of five children and had lived inIndianapolis for 74 years. Mary Lou was a 1947 graduate of St Agnes Academy.She worked for US Rubber for 3 years then aided her husband as State FarmInsurance agency office manager for over 20 years while raising their 7 boysbefore retiring in 1982.
Mary Lou and family wereparishioners of St Andrew Catholic Church through 1975, later attending StAnn where she was an officer of the South Deanery, secretary of Parish Counciland Lay Minister. She has been member of St Barnabas since 1987.
Family and faith were mostimportant to her. Mary Lou truly touched the hearts of many with her kindnessand generosity; often donating her time, many talents and treasure to herchurch community.
She is survived by her 7 sonsMichael (MarKay) Burkhart, Richard (Vanessa) Burkhart, Joseph (Sheila)Burkhart, James (MaryAnn) Burkhart, William Burkhart, Paul (Erin) Burkhart,Matthew (Heather) Burkhart; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Shewas preceded in death by her loving husband, William Burkhart; her parentsLucien and Louise Dreyer; and 4 brothers Lucien, Kenneth, Robert and EdwardDreyer.
Vigil service and Rosary followed by visitationwill be held Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 3pm until 8pm and Friday 9am atG.H. Herrmann Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46227. AMass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 19, 2016beginning 10am at St Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Road, Indianapolis,IN 46217. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorialcontributions may be made to St Vincent DePaul or Alzheimer’s Association.Arrangements are under the care of Flanner and Buchanan- Market Street.
