Mary Ellen (Kornbroke) Bedwell, 95, passed away peacefully March 27th, 2025. She was born April 26th, 1929, in Indianapolis to parents William and Beryl (Cain) Kornbroke.
Mary grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Southport High School.
On October 14th, 1949, Mary married the love of her life, Jack Bedwell. They shared 50 wonderful years together. Jack passed away in 1999.
Mary’s faith was paramount in her life, and she was always heavily involved in church activities. She was a charter member of Trinity E&R, which later merged and became Faith UCC.
Mary was a vibrant, compassionate woman with a servant’s heart. She was passionate about volunteering well into her later years. Mary was very crafty, and talented at needlework, knitting, and crocheting; a gift she used to help others by making hats and garments for cancer patients and newborns. Family was always Mary’s focus. She took her role as homemaker very seriously and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mary is survived by her children Linda Krueger (Steve), Rick Bedwell (Lucy), Bill Bedwell (Cheryl), and Sam Bedwell (Sandy); eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; her sister Vicki Curtiss; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Jack Bedwell; three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be Tuesday April 1st, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, from 11-1pm. Her service will begin at 1pm. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
