Marvin Rooks left his earthly home, peacefully in his sleep, January 11, 2022. Born November 19, 1940 in Green Co., KY to Owen and Heddie Agnes (Powell) Rooks, he now joins them along with his twin brother Arvin, 3 sisters and another 2 brothers who preceded him. Also preceding him, in 2012, was his partner of over 20 years and the love of his life, Becky Baxter.
During Marvin’s lifetime he was the owner and operator of his own semi, an over-the road truck driver, who drove for Perkins. He was forced to stop the road-life he loved when he became blind. Over the 40 years of driving Marvin drove about 4 million miles only stopping when forced to because of blindness. Other truckers knew him by his handle “Widow Maker”.
Marvin leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law Tammy and Garet Fritsch; grandsons Xzavier Rooks and Jonathon Navarro; and brothers Fred and Roe Rooks. All of whom will miss their greatly loved “Santa Claus”.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Connor Suite), 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN, where funeral services will immediately be following beginning at 11 a.m. Marvin will take a final semi ride to his resting place.
