Marvin L. Page, our father, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 31st, 1933, to Winona and Ben Page and was their only child. As soon as he was able to work, he helped out on his grandfather's farm during the summers, carried a paper route and worked at the local drug store's ice cream counter. After graduating from Arsenal Technical High School (the first person in his family to graduate), he soon after joined the Army and was stationed in France for the entirety of his service. He had very fond memories of that time and often told stories about the strenuous work he was assigned – as a clerical in an office!
After he was discharged , he took advantage of the GI Bill to further his education. He received his Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. It was around this time that he was set up on a blind date with Nancy Mates. After a brief courtship, they were married. He was accepted into the General Electric training program, which required that he move every year for several years. Marvin and Nancy had 3 daughters over the course of this training program, with each of the daughters being born in different cities.
After the program's completion, he then took a job in Indianapolis at an Engineering firm, where he stayed for several years. He left Indianapolis and pursue Master’s Degree in Ministry from Earlham College in Richmond while Nancy began teaching school.
Some of Marvin's hobbies included supporting the Indianapolis Colts, Pacers and Purdue Boilermakers. He also enjoyed collecting antiques.
At the time of his retirement, he was working as a Quality Assurance engineer for Stant Manufacturing in Connersville, Indiana. He continued to enjoy his hobbies until his passing. He also loved to cook, spending time every week finding recipes online and trying them out!
He adored his only grandchild Chelsea and beamed with pride when he spoke of her.
He loved his cats over the years: Fluffy, Beau, Charlie, Sneezy, Peyton and Eli.
He is survived by his daughters Karen and Kristen (Brian) and granddaughter Chelsea (Victor). He lost his oldest daughter Kathleen in 2022 and deeply grieved her passing.
He will be missed tremendously by his daughters Karen and Kristen, who will continue to keep the memories of him alive every day.
