Martha (Marty) Ann Engleman Hoyer

Martha (Marty) Ann Engleman Hoyer was born on September 19, 1944, in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents, Hal and Ivy Engleman, joining the family alongside her brother, Mark Engleman. After graduation from Broad Ripple High School in 1961, Marty continued her higher education endeavors at the Indiana University School of Dentistry’s Dental Hygiene program. After successfully completing that course of study, she married and began working for successful dentists in endodontics, orthodontics, and a national leading dentist in periodontics. Her skills as a hygienist were well recognized throughout central Indiana.

Marty became a mother to daughter, Kelly Suzanne, on August 5, 1972. During the years of adulthood, Marty lived in various parts of Indy’s westside and finally resided in a comfortable home in Brownsburg for over 40 years until her recent passing.

Marty had interests beyond her profession and motherhood. She became involved in the Indy Car racing scene. For many years, she was involved with timing and scoring with the very successful racing team of Newman/Haas. Marty also was an involved member of CARA (Championship Auto Racing Auxiliary), which provided funds to various racing entities who were in need of additional support. She also participated in functions for the Indy 500 Old Timers. Marty also assisted in putting on the annual style show sponsored by the CARA organization. Marty should be remembered as a willing participant to bring about a successful outcome. As life continued for her, social events such as Bunko group emerged to provide a source of fun and friendship. She was also an avid member of her quilting club and the Church Connection Pointe Brownsburg and Bible Study groups.
