Martha "Marti" Gilman Renzi ofZionsville, Indiana passed away peacefully on June 10, 2017 at 88 years of age.She was born December 23, 1928 to Hellaine Arathusa and Samuel Vincent Gilmanin Orange, New Jersey. She grew up in West Orange, New Jersey and attended theCollege of Saint Elizabeth, where she graduated with a degree in biology. Shewent on to obtain a Masters of Science in biology at Syracuse University, andalso met her future husband, Alfred Renzi there. Upon graduating, she went to work as aresearch scientist for Ciba Pharmaceuticals.

She married Alfred Renzi September4, 1954, and continued to work for CIBA. When Alfred was drafted, she movedwith him to Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and worked in the labat the School of Aviation Medicine from 1955-1958. They returned to New Jersey,where her husband continued to work for Ciba and she was very busy raising fivechildren. A devout Catholic, she became an active member of the Legion of Mary.

In 1967 Alfred took a job with theDow Chemical Company and the family moved to Indianapolis. Marti had a deep andbeautiful faith in God, which she shared with her family and everyone aroundher. She served as a Eucharistic minister and catechism teacher in Indianapolis.In 1971 the family moved to Midland Michigan where Marti became a Director ofReligious Education at St. Brigid Catholic Church. Marti and Al eventually returnedto Indiana, moving to Zionsville.

Marti gave back to others throughher community service. She volunteered as a Eucharistic minister at St. VincentHospital for 23 years. She was a past president of the Zionsville Women’s Club,and member of the Village Arts Club, the Sullivan Museum Guild, and ZionsvilleHistorical Society. She also belonged to the D.A.R, the Mayflower Society andthe Indianapolis Women’s Department Club. She was also an active member of St.Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church where she was a member of the Parish Council,Eucharistic minister, choir, and ran and taught the high school religious educationprogram for many years.

Marti’s life was enriched by hermarriage to Alfred. They were happily married for 59 years, were blessed with 5children, and created a family full of faith, love, and laughter. Marti issurvived by her children Linda Renzi Schueler, David(Nanette) Renzi, Richard(Julie) Renzi, Stephen (Tammy) Renzi, Maura Renzi, and 14 grandchildren and onegreat-grandchild.
