Martha Ruth (Orr) Boltz, of Noblesville, Indiana, entered the loving arms of Jesus on August 29, 2024, just two days shy of her 70th birthday. Martha was dedicated to her faith, family, friends, and students. Her kindness and generosity will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
Born on August 31, 1954, in Danville, Illinois, Martha was the beloved daughter of Rev. Fred L. and Clara (Eibner) Orr. Martha's educational journey began with her graduation from Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She earned both a bachelor’s degree from Taylor University and a master’s degree from Ball State University in early childhood education. As a talented singer, she was a member of the traveling musical group at Taylor University. She continued to sing for her church and teach Sunday school throughout young adulthood.
Her passion for teaching was evident in her long and dedicated career, primarily at Heritage Christian School, where she taught kindergarten and prep-k for over 30 years. Martha was instrumental in developing the prep-k program that continues to thrive today. She also mentored new teachers as both a kindergarten lead teacher and director of early childhood education.
Martha had a vibrant and fulfilling life beyond her teaching career. On December 23, 1978, Martha married Steven C. Boltz. She was a devoted mother and nana, roles she cherished deeply. She enjoyed her pets, crafting, reading, traveling, and time spent outdoors at her family vacation home on Sweetwater Lake.
She is survived by her husband, Steven; her children, Jonathan Boltz of Noblesville, IN, Suzanne Collins (Jon) of Indianapolis, IN, and David Boltz (Jacqueline) of McCordsville, IN; and her granddaughters, Emmarie Collins, Audra Collins, and Zoe Boltz. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Fred L. Orr of North Manchester, IN. She is preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Lily Collins.
