Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents Ralph & Ida (Ragsdale) Taylor, Martha Ann Buehner attended and graduated from Manuel High School in Indianapolis in 1966. She went on to study education and graduated from Ball State University in 1970 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. While teaching first grade, she continued her education at Indiana Central University and received her Master’s in Education in 1973. She found her teaching home at Mary Bryan Elementary School in Perry Township. She remained there, teaching first grade in Room 2 until 2016 when she retired after 43 years. With an average of 25 students per year, it is safe to say that Martha impacted over 1,000 students in her 43 years of teaching. In addition to her career, she volunteered at the Benjamin Harrison Home for over 20 years, where she served as a tour guide and sat on the board. She was always heavily involved throughout her life in her faith as a Christian and her church.
Beloved wife, daughter, and mother, Martha was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Ida Taylor, and brothers Norman Taylor and Charles Taylor. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years David P. Buehner, daughter Gretchen Herbert, son Anthony Buehner, and grandchildren Katelynn, Chloe, Sophia, and Caleb.
