Mark Odell Porter

Mark Odell Porter was born on March 2, 1957. Mark was united in marriage with his wife of forty-one years Rhonda Lynn Roscoe-Porter on June 28, 1980. Mark is preceded in death by his father Rev. Claude Odell Porter Sr, his mother Marcella Beatrice (Brown) Porter Jackson. He is the fourth child of this union. His sister Marcella Johnson, and brother Rory Theodore Porter also preceded him death. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Paul Baptist Church.

He attended North Central High School, Indianapolis, Indiana. He started his working career at Western Electric. Later, Mark became an entrepreneur in partnership with his older brother, Claude “Butch” Porter, owning several gas stations. laundry mats and carwashes.

Mark had a great sense of humor and always had a smile and a joke. Mark is well known for cooking and his famous bar-b-que sauce Mr. Smokies. Mark leaves to cherish memory his wife Rhonda Lynn Roscoe-Porter, sister Rev. Dr. CJ Koen (William), brother Claude Porter (Marian), sister Victoria Finch, nephews Madison Porter, Calum Finch, Cameron Finch, Kinte Mitchell, nieces India Webster, Sarah -Elizabeth Porter, Allison Porter, Jacqueline Johnson, Barbara Wade, and a host of other relatives. Mark will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 21 at Witherspoon Presbyterian Church, 5136 N. Michigan Rd, Indianapolis. Viewing will be held from 10 AM to 12 noon with the Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 Noon.
