Mark David Dilley

Mark David Dilley, 70, of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly on the early morning of Tuesday, November 27, 2018. He was born March 15, 1948 in Indianapolis, a son of the late David and Rosemary (Gray) Dilley.

Mark graduated from Arlington High School and later earned an Associate’s degree from Vincennes University. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army. During his time in the Army, he served at Fort Rucker, Alabama and at Nellingen Army Base in Stuttgart, Germany. Upon his return home, he served in the Indiana National Guard. For several years he worked in Data Processing at the Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison.

Photography was a hobby he enjoyed for many years. The family has many wonderful pictures he took. He also enjoyed collecting coins. He was an avid reader reading mostly non-fiction books. He especially enjoyed reading biographies. He enjoyed cats and dogs and enjoyed caring for the family pets. During his father’s final illness he was a helpful caregiver.

Mark is survived by his siblings, Carol June Kauffman, Calista Dickey, Donald Dilley, Elizabeth (Jon) Curry, and Mary (John) Arthurs; his niece and nephews, Sara Dickey, Matthew (Emily) Dickey, and William Arthurs as well as his grand-niece, Ellie Dickey and a grand-nephew, Samuel Dickey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Dilley and a brother-in-law, John S. Dickey.

A graveside service will be held at Washington Park East Cemetery on Friday, December 28 at 2 PM.
