Marjory (Margie) Anne Kasper

January 23, 1946 — July 21, 2016

Marjory (Margie) Anne Kasper passed away on July 21, 2016. A heart attack and leukemia survivor, she could not survive ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease‎). Margie was born in Scotland to a British service Scotswoman, Janet Campbell Diehl, and U.S. Army Air Corpsman, George Diehl.

Margie attended St. Joan of Arc Grammar School and St. Agnes Academy in Indianapolis, and then Indiana University, from which she received a B.S. and M.S. She began her teaching career in Indianapolis Public Schools in 1967. After taking a break to raise her daughters, Rebecca and Kristin, she returned to teaching. After working at various schools, she finished the last 13 years of her career at Fishers’ United Methodist Preschool, discovering her true love of teaching preschoolers.
Margie is survived by her husband of 47 years, David, her daughters, and her brother Hugh Diehl (Liz). Margie will be remembered by her family, friends, students and their parents as a loving, generous, and creative person as well as a dedicated teacher. Her family thanks the friends, family, and caregivers, especially Tonya Haines.
A visitation will be at Flanner and Buchannan-Broad Ripple, from 4 to 8 pm on July 25, 2016. A funeral mass will be held on July 26, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church at 10 am, with a visitation beginning at 9:30 am (before the mass). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association, Indiana Chapter.
