Marjorie (Russell) Denien, 97, passed away peacefully on August 20th, 2024. She was born in Salem, Indiana on May 13th,1927 to Charley and Mary Pearl Russell on the family farm. She graduated from Salem High School in 1945. Marjorie married John Denien on December 18th, 1947; they celebrated 70 years together. She was a homemaker until her and John started their own business, Limestone Garage in 1969. For many years, Marjorie worked in the office, well into her eighties. She loved being outside in her garden and taking care of her yard and flowers especially her tulips in the spring. Marjorie enjoyed flying to events with John in their airplane. They traveled to countless destinations with good friends. Marjorie was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She was faithful member of Southeastern Church of Christ since it opened in 1964. She was a generous and giving person and well known for her beautiful smile.
We would like to thank the many CNA’s, nurses and caregivers at Brandywine that took care of her the last few years with so much love, care and devotion. Especially Carolyn, Corbi, Manyouka and Nikki. We are also grateful for Rachel and Dusty with Heart-to-Heart Hospice. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents Charley and Mary "Pearl" Russell, her husband John, and grandson Gary Robert, three brothers, her sister, and daughter-in-law Mary Denien. Marjorie is survived by her children, son Gary, son John (Teresa), and daughter Annette (Brian) Johnson; Grandchildren Leslie (John) Sweet, Michael (Donna) Denien, Daniel (Kristy) Denien; Great-Children Austin Denien, Lilly Denien, Hannah Denien, and Renee Denien; Step Great-Grand Children Keith, Isabella, and Abbigale Stephenson; and her brother, Conrad Russell.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 1PM-4PM at Flanner Buchanan-Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, Indiana 46229. A funeral service will begin at 4PM. There will be additional visitation after the service until 6PM. Marjorie will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem, IN.
