Marjorie A. Meyers, age 92, of Indianapolis, Indiana died at St. Vincent Hospice on May 7, 2021. Born in Willoughby, Ohio on November 2, 1928, daughter of Charles and Forrest Carrel.
Marjorie was devoted to her family and was a faithful caregiver for her mother and her husband, Donald C. Meyers both of whom endured Alzheimer’s disease.
Marjorie exhibited her love for her four daughters by initiating annual mother/daughter birthday celebrations for every birthday up until her death. In this way she made each daughter feel special. Marjorie had a beautiful smile, loved to laugh and create fun family gatherings. Needless to say, Marjorie, or as most called her, Margie, was a social woman, who enjoyed all people.
Being a transplanted Buckeye, Margie started life in Indianapolis as a farmer’s wife on the family farm at 75th and Shadeland Avenue. Here Margie developed a love of nature, gardening and everything country. Many a family picnic took place, hosted by Margie and Chuck McCormack (father to Margie’s daughters). All throughout her life, she carried on her love of growing flowers and making beautiful gardens.
In the last eight years of her life, Margie has enjoyed living at Crestwood North Senior Apartments and of course loved socializing with other residents and especially playing Bingo, cards, attending special parties and offering her services when an extra hand was needed.
Margie is survived by her four daughters, Suzanne Newton (Richard), Marcia Spies, Claudia Leahy (James), Carolyn Daniel (Wayne), seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband and sister, Charlotte McGraw, both in 2013.
