Marilyn Anders Butler Shull

Marilyn Anders Butler Shull,

94, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2016, after a brief illness. She was born on Dec. 3, 1921, to George and Gladys (Pickett) Anders in Shelbyville, IN. She was a 1939 graduate of Shelbyville H.S. In 1941 she was the first member of her family to attend college, graduating in 1945 from Franklin College and later earning a master’s degree from Butler University.
In 1947 she married Dr. Robert Butler, and they had three children, Pamela James (Paul), Dr. Nancy Butler-Rian (George, dec. 2014), and Maurice (Lisa). In 1990 she married Donald Shull who preceded her in death, and recently she had been living at The Forum in Indianapolis.
She had a twenty year career as a 7th grade English teacher at Creston and Stonybrook Middle Schools in Warren Twp. Marilyn was an active member of Lawrence United Methodist Church, Zeta Tau Alpha, Sigma Delta Pi, Tri Kappa and Goodwill Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing the piano, bridge, knitting, and was an avid reader and sports fan.
Other survivors are grandchildren, Emma and Matthew Butler, sister, Marcia Miles, niece Tera Miles, David Shull (Susan) and their children David, Katie, and Leah.
Services will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016, at Flanner and Buchanan- Broad Ripple. Visitation will be from 11 am until 1 pm with funeral services at 1 pm. Interment follows immediately at Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin College through the Office of Development and Alumni Engagement: Franklin College 101 Branigin Blvd. Franklin, IN 46131.
