Marilyn J. Allen

Indianapolis

Marilyn Jean Allen, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away September 1st, 2024. She was born in Indianapolis, February 8th, 1944, to parents Thomas and Katherine McKenzie. 

Marilyn grew up in Indianapolis. 

As a young woman, she met the love of her life, Joseph Allen. In 1976, they were married and shared 31 wonderful years together. Joseph passed away May 25th, 2007. 

A hard worker, Marilyn worked in TV assembly at RCA for many years. Later she became a custodian at Ben Davis high school, until she retired. 

Marilyn was a generous, loving woman. She had a huge soft spot for animals and had many beloved dogs and cats throughout her life. Marilyn enjoyed browsing yard sales, and trips to the drive-in theater. She enjoyed music, and became a big Motley Crue fan, listening to her favorite songs over and over. Overall, Marilyn was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them. 

She is survived by her children Victoria Allen, Sheila Herring (Martin Sr.), and Cynthia Weheisit; grandchildren Amanda Allen, Samantha Reiger, Stephanie Gill, Dakota Lamb, Christina Decker, Martin Herring Jr., and Brandon Herring; many great and great-great grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Joseph; siblings Carol Pilot and Ann Rhodes; her daughter Carmen Walters and son Thomas Joseph Edward Allen. 

Visitation will be Monday September 9th, from 11-1pm at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East. Her funeral will begin at 1pm. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Concordia Cemetery in Indianapolis.
