Mariano V. Miguel, 99, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on July 30, 2018 just a few months shy of his 100th birthday. He was born December 26, 1918 in Lubao, Pampanga, Philippines to Alejandro and Felipa Miguel; one of two sons.
Miguel served in the military and was a WWII veteran, serving the United States with the 45th Infantry Philippine Scouts. Upon completing his time with the service as a 1st Lieutenant, he worked in Guam as a pipefitter. He was married to the love of his life, Rizalina, for 55 years until her passing in 2003. Though Mariano wished to see his 100th birthday, family believes he wanted to get to Heaven to spend Rizalina’s 95th birthday with her on August 12. His children remember him as a hard worker, he was never too proud to do what he had to in order to care for his family. He was kind and considerate, though a man of few words his actions were genuine and selfless. Mariano loved to dance and go to the casino. He was also a chess master, even beating the computer during matches. Mariano loved math, was a great cook, and had a love for sports; he was even a baseball player.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 55 years, Rizalina; and brother, Teodoro. Surviving to carry on his legacy are his children, Elvie, Ferdinand (Evelyn), Beth (Leo), Ody (Raquel), and Angel; 6 grandchildren, Kathy, Jerome, Apple, Christopher, Anthony, and Princess; 7 great-grandchildren, Kim, Kay, Keanna, JunJun, J.C. Chuchay, and Alex.
