Marianne (Pat) Buschmann Dorrell, 91, a lifelong resident of Indianapolis and Carmel, passed away on July 22, 2016. For 67 years she was the devoted and loving wife of Joseph W. Dorrell, Jr., who passed away on July 10, 2016.
After graduating from Shortridge High School, Marianne was a member of the Alpha Chi Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega at Butler University. Following graduation she served as chapter financial advisor for 32 years. She was also a longtime member of Crossroads Guild, Alpha Pi Sorority, and North United Methodist Church. In 2003, she retired after 26 years as a real estate broker with A.H.M Graves and then F.C. Tucker.
Marianne enjoyed staying active, taking care of Joe, playing bridge, keeping in touch with lifelong friends, gardening, trying new recipes, and playing the organ.
Survivors are son John Dorrell (Mary), daughter Judy Kelts (David), granddaughters Jennifer Dorrell, Tamara Reardon (Zachary), Angela Green (Daniel), and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of a service, there will be an informal gathering of family and friends on Sunday, August 7 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at The Barrington of Carmel, the Dorrells’ home since January, 2014.
