Marianna (Hawkins) Platt, 95, of Indianapolis, died December 24, 2022, at home surrounded by family. She was born to the late Brode and Opal Hawkins in Shelby County, Indiana.
Marianna graduated from Addison Township Consolidated School, Shelby County, St. Paul High School, Decatur County, and attended Ball State Teacher’s College.
She worked for subdivision developers, mortgagee correspondent, cooperative housing sponsor, property manager, and an equity dealer. She was an Independent Real Estate Broker and Insurance Agent.
She was a member of Chapel Rock Christian Church, Post 500 American Legion Auxiliary and formerly Lois Chapter OES, Greensburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Robert H. Platt, son David F. Platt, daughter Nancy J. Platt, grandson Jason L. Williams, her sister Velma Buck, son-in-law Larry Burcham, brother-in-law Thomas Buck, and her brother-in-law Paul L. Platt.
She is survived by her son Edward M. Platt (Heather Cooksey); daughter Anita L. Burcham; her 10 grandchildren Sandra Reardon, Lisa Engle, Jordan Platt, Jacob Platt, Lindsay (Joe) Williams, Mackenzie (Austin) Williams, Wesley Burcham, Whitney (Kenny) McCullough, Colin (Jess) Platt, Carson (Hannah) Platt; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Ruth Platt of Cleburne, TX; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and guests during a visitation from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway at 2950 N. High School Road in Indianapolis with a memorial service beginning at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chapel Rock Christian Church at 2020 N. Girls School Road, Indianapolis, IN 46214.
