Maria Reed

March 20, 1931 — January 5, 2017

Maria Theresia Hansi Reed, Indianapolis, and formerly of Oxford, IN, passed away on January 5, 2017, joining her husband and son. Born on March 20, 1931 to the late Joseph and Helene Voll in Frankfurt-Main Germany, she was raised and educated there.

After a lot of red tape they were married and she was allowed to immigrate to the USA, a German war bride. She arrived on one of Pan Am's Clipper jets in New York on June 30, 1949. In 1953 she became a proud naturalized U.S. citizen.

Before retiring in 1996, she worked for 22 years in the accounting department of Baptist Homes of Indiana. Prior to moving to Indianapolis, she was a bookkeeper for Butler Equipment Company and the Corn Belt Feed Company of Oxford, IN.

Maria was a member of the Oxford Federated Church and the St. Vincent Hospital Guild, where she also served on the Board of Directors.

She was a respected and loved member of her College Park Community where she, for a time, organized and supported the "ladies coffee" as well as the "over 55er's" activities.

Surviving are her daughter-in-law Diana; her grandson, A.J. and granddaughter, Sarah; her family in Germany, which includes her brother, Walter Voll and his wife Maria, two nieces, Matina and Carina, and her sister-in-law, Marianne Voll; and also surviving is her brother-in-law, Paul Reed. Maria was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Raymond, and her beloved son, Alan.
