Maria Agnes Balon

Maria Agnes Balon, 93, of Avon and formerly of Danville passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. She was born in Kempno, Poland, a daughter of the late Bernard Domagala and Antonina (Pawlak) Domagala.

She had an education up to only the 3rd Grade because the war had started. She was self-taught and had excellent penmanship in English and in Polish despite her limited schooling. Maria was a member of Saint Monica‘s Catholic Church in Indianapolis and attended Mary Queen of Peace Church in Danville.  She worked at BHT Factory for many years. She then worked at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in the CPD and in the sterilization surgical departments.  Maria and Roman were in the Polish/American Society, they loved to socialize with their many friends.

Maria especially looked forward to traveling to Massachusetts to see her brother and all his family, whether it be at a beach, whale watch, lake, or pool she was happiest near water.

Maria was a great seamstress and an excellent cook. Time shared with family & friends with food sitting around a table is what she most treasured and loved.

Survivors include daughters, Janina (Gregory) Baldwin of New Castle, IN and Theresa Balon-Bowden of Danville, IN; grandchildren , Angela (Matthew) Aten and Roman K. Baldwin of New Castle; great grandchildren, Ariana Robinson, Marisha Aten, Aaron Aten, Alex Aten; nephews, Janusz Lorkowski, Jan Henry Domagala, Anthony Domagala; nieces, Irrena Lorkowski, Diane Domagala-Boudreaux, Angela Mello, Evelyn D’Ambra, Renee Domagala, Michelle Efthimiades, Marian Plant and many great nieces, great nephews and cousins in the USA as well as in Poland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, brother, sisters-in-law and her parents.
