Margaret J. Rosebrock

July 18, 1928 — February 21, 2025

Indianapolis

Margaret J. Rosebrock, (Marty or Marg), 96, departed from this world on February 21, 2025. She was born on July 18, 1928 in Thorntown, Indiana to the parents John and Freida Martin. She met and fell in love with her future husband, James (Jim) Rosebrock when she moved to Indianapolis to find work. They met on a double date and were engaged on October 4, 1952 and married six months later. They shared 55 wonderful years together.

She worked as a telephone operator for Indiana Bell when she moved from Union City to Indianapolis in her early years. After she met Jim and married, she became a stay-at-home housewife, caring for her two daughters, her husband and her home. Later she returned to work as a telephone operator for the Indiana State Office Building.

She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, quilting, feeding the birds and playing solitaire in her spare time.

Margaret enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband, her children and grandchildren for many years. She traveled all over the country. She enjoyed attending the family reunion campouts held for over 50 years at Whitewater State Park, where she could see and be with her family and extended family.

She always went to church every week and did volunteer work for the church like working the food pantry or caring for the children in the nursery. She enjoyed reading her Bible, her faith guiding her through both the peaks and valleys of life.

She cherished the simple pleasures of life, like coffee and chocolate. She did like her sweets!

Margaret is preceded in death by her beloved husband James Rosebrock, her parents John and Frieda Martin and her siblings Mary Smock, James Martin, and Don Martin.

Margaret is survived by her daughters Carol Burton, Debbie (Steven) Clark. Her grandchildren Jonathan (Krystle) Clark, Christopher (Heather) Clark, Jameson (Kelsey) Burton and Megan (Edward) Sawyer. Her great grandchildren Levi, Ezra, and Quinn.

As we remember Margaret J. Rosebrock, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, love, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. Her spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
