Margaret Mcewen

Margaret Ruth Chellman McEwen was born December 29, 1926 to William and Thelma (Evertsen) Chellman in Chicago, IL. Margaret went to be with her Lord on August 19, 2017 at the age of 90. She married John “Jack” P. McEwen on August 18, 1951. Together they raised 5 children. Marge was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Throughout her life she was active in her church and community leading Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, teaching Sunday School, and volunteering at her children’s schools. She enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, painting, sewing and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending summers at Boom Lake in Rhinelander, WI with her family and friends.

Marge will be remembered for her fun-loving nature, kindness, caring, gentleness and eternal optimism. She was a lover of dogs, found the best in every person she met and enjoyed many lifelong friendships.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband Jack and her son John P. McEwen Jr., her sister Dorothy McDonald and brother William Chellman. She is survived by her children Catherine Wilson of Pittsburgh, PA; Todd (Viki) McEwen of Pittsboro, IN; Beth (Bill) Verhonik of Plainfield, IN: and Rich (Marla) McEwen of Jeffersonville, IN; sister Sue Larsen of Rhinelander, WI; sister-in-law Ann Chellman of Colorado; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 4 PM Friday, August 25, 2017 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 1001 Concord Rd, Plainfield, IN with calling from 2-4 PM. Contributions may be made to St. Stephens Lutheran Church. To leave an online condolence visit www.flannerbuchanan.com.
