Dr. Margaret F. Powers

Dr. Margaret F. Powers, 93, of Indianapolis passed away June 28, 2022, surrounded by family in Avon. She was born January 1, 1929, in Muncie, IN to Lafayette M. & Katherine Oma (Paris) Hill.

She is survived by her children, son Mike Powers, daughter Kathy (Danny) Shrout, granddaughter Angela (Greg) Owen; and great-grandchildren Madi, Holden, Sophie, Paislee, Desi, Kaiden, and Serenity, and daughter-in-law Judith Acousta Powers and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband George A. Powers, parents Lafayette Hill and Katherine Gump, son John Powers, grandson Jonathan Shrout, and her siblings Mavelyn Smith and Jeri Mixell.

Margaret married the love of her life when she was 19. She attended Ball State and received her Bachelor Degree of Education. She taught for several years before she went back to IU and received her Doctorate of Education. She taught for over 20 years in Wayne Township and was a professor for student teachers at IUPUI for several years after that. During this time she had 3 children and as a family they loved to vacation and go boating and waterskiing. She loved nothing more than to spend time with her family.

Margaret greatly loved her family and was greatly loved by them. She was a strong Christian woman who had great faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. She is now celebrating in the presence of Him and all the family and friends that were there waiting for her in Heaven. We will miss her everyday until we are reunited!
