Marcia Lynn Burkett

Marcia Lynn Burkett, 67, of Camby, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018.

She was born on April 17, 1950 in Indianapolis to the late Donald L. and Doris C. (Meyer) Hawkinson.  Marcia was a 1969 graduate of Warren Central High School and soon after married Michael A. Burkett.  She and Mike enjoyed camping with their family down in Brown County and she also enjoyed shopping; especially in Nashville, IN. Marcia was an animal lover and enjoyed feeding the wildlife around her home and taking care of her dog, Bella.  Later in life, she became an active Volunteer with Worthington House in Camby and loved the time she spent with the residents there.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and always put the needs of others before her own.

Marcia will be greatly missed by her daughter, Lori (Carlos) Casales and Carrie (Jason) Staples; 5 grandchildren, Corey, Caitlin, Sarah, Lydia and Nathaniel.  She is also survived by her brother, John (Janet) Hawkinson; and her mother-in-law, Peggy Burkett.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Mike Burkett; and sister, Carol.

Visitation for Marcia will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 12:30-2:30pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East with funeral services immediately following.  Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Humane Society.  Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
